Freemasonry under the United Grand Lodge of England is the UK's largest, secular, fraternal and charitable Organisation.

It has over 300, 000 members working in nearly 8, 000 lodges throughout England and Wales and 30,000 more members overseas.

Joining the Freemasons

A common misconception among the general public is that Freemasonry "recruits" potential members and invites those who are "approved of" if they would like to join.   In fact the opposite is the case!  While we will happily tell people about our society, we do not explicitly invite or recruit new members.

Anyone who is interested in joining needs to ask ..... you can ask a friend whom you know to be a Freemason, or if you don't know any Freemasons, then please refer to the 'Information' page for contact details to enquire about membership.
